Why Our Visits Are At Least One Hour
Short, rushed visits don't allow for good care. A full hour gives time to help properly, to chat, and to notice if something isn't right.

Ways To Pay For Care
1. Paying privately
You arrange care directly with us and pay monthly. You choose exactly what support you receive and when, and can change it as needs change.
2. Self-directed Support (SDS)
If the council assesses that you need support, Self-directed Support lets you choose how it's arranged. There are four options:
Option 1 — Direct payment: the council pays the budget to you, and you can use it to buy care from us.
Option 2 — You choose, the council arranges: you tell the council you'd like PCS as your provider, and they or a chosen organisation manage the money.
Option 3 — The council chooses: the council selects and arranges the service; we may be selected as your provider.
Option 4 — A mix of the above for different kinds of support.
In East Renfrewshire, the independent SDS Forum can explain the options and even hold a direct payment on your behalf.
3. Council-arranged care
We work with local councils as an approved provider across East Renfrewshire and Glasgow Southside.

Free Personal Care In Scotland
If the council assesses that you need personal care — such as help with washing, dressing, eating or taking medication — that care is free, whatever your age or income. It doesn't cover practical help such as cleaning, shopping or befriending, which may still be charged.
We always recommend asking for a council assessment. We're happy to explain how, and to provide care alongside any council-funded support.

Extra Money That Can Help Pay For Care
Pension Age Disability Payment has replaced Attendance Allowance in Scotland. It's for people over State Pension age who need help or supervision because of an illness or disability. It isn't means-tested, so savings and income don't affect it, and you can spend it as you choose — including on care.
