Getting Started With Befriending
Get In Touch
Call us or send the enquiry form and tell us a little about your relative and their interests.
Meet With Us
We visit them at home, free and without obligation, to understand their needs and what they enjoy.
Find The Right Carer
We match them with a carer who shares similar interests and agree a regular day and time.
Company That Makes A Difference
Later life can become lonely. Friends move away or pass on, family live further off or work long hours, and getting out isn't as easy as it was. A regular visit from someone who knows you, and looks forward to seeing you, can lift the whole week.
Our befriending service gives exactly that: time with a familiar carer who comes to share your interests, not to hurry through tasks.

What A Visit Might Look Like
Every visit is shaped around the person. It might be:
-
A cup of tea and a proper conversation — about family, football, the old days or the news.
-
A walk in Rouken Glen, Queen's Park or around the neighbourhood.
-
Coffee and a scone in Clarkston, Giffnock or Shawlands.
-
A trip to the shops, the library, the hairdresser or church.
-
Company at a GP, dental or hospital appointment.
-
Cards, dominoes, a jigsaw, crosswords or looking through old photographs.
-
Help with video calls to family, letters or keeping up with emails.
-
Gardening, baking or simply watching a favourite film together.
Who Befriending Helps
-
People living alone who would welcome regular company.
-
Anyone who has lost a partner and finds the days long.
-
Older people who have lost confidence going out after illness or a fall.
-
People living with early dementia, for whom familiar faces and routines matter.
-
Families who live away, or work, and want to know Mum or Dad has someone looking in.

Peace Of Mind For Families
Our befrienders are trained PCS carers, registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and working under our Care Inspectorate registration. We aim to send the same carer each time, so a real friendship can grow. With your relative's agreement, we can let you know how visits are going — and if we notice something that worries us, we'll tell you.
If needs change, the same team can add personal care or home help without starting again with a new provider.
I am delighted with the assistance given to me by all of the young ladies who helped me to shower, get dressed and get ready for bed and gave me my pills, all lovely girls.
